The authors present a bipolar/CMOS circuit family for a 0.25 μm BiCMOS technology. A modified ECL (emitter-coupled logic) circuit is operated at its minimum supply (3 Vbe) or about 2.5 volts, which is an appropriate supply for 0.25 μm CMOS, and also results in reduced power in the ECL circuit. Also, two novel level converters are presented to ease the intermixing of ECL and CMOS circuits. An example of implementing complex logic is also described.
