Toward an understanding of overcoat corrosion protection

The electrochemical studies of head-media corrosion protections were presented. The droplet electrochemical cell was used for the studies. The galvanic coupling between the overcoat and the metal layer was also discussed. It was observed that the galvanic coupling effect can exacerbate the corrosion problem depending on the type of materials to protect.
