An electron recording system for a high density readonly photographic memory has been developed. The information has been recorded at speeds up to 10 6 bits/sec with a storage density of 10 6 bits/cm 2. After processing, the information can be read back optically at 10 6 bits/sec. The high recording speed given by the electron beam technique makes it possible to extend the use of photographic memories to systems requiring frequent updating or systems with capacities of more than 10 8 bits.
