Faraday rotation, as a function of wavelength for amorphous Nd-Co and Nd-Fe films, show the opposite behavior for low concentration Nd. The rotation decreases with increasing λ for Nd-Co and increases for Nd-Fe. This behavior is attributed mainly to the Nd, which has a higher magnetization in the Nd-Co. For Nd alone, a rotation of about 100 deg/cm G is estimated. In Nd-Fe at 50% concentration, the total Faraday rotation is higher than for Nd-Co which may be attributable to the effect of the spontaneous Hall angle.
