We apply the technique of simple cell mapping to the problem of the rf-driven Josephson junction, and show that this technique is a computation-efficient method of exploring attractors and basins in this system. We show attractors, basins, and Poincaré maps of a previously reported interior crisis, and we also explore the phase plane of a junction with extreme underdampingan impractical problem by any other technique. © 1987 The American Physical Society.
