Dr. Mukesh V. Khare is General Manager of IBM Semiconductors division leading a global team of more than 1,000 researchers advancing the future of computing through breakthroughs in semiconductor technologies for artificial intelligence (AI) and quantum computing. Dr. Khare is also responsible for the division's semiconductor intellectual property portfolio and the associated licensing and IP income. Under his leadership, IBM announced the fabrication of quantum processors at the 300mm Albany NanoTech facility — a milestone that laid important technological groundwork for Anderon.
Throughout his career, Dr. Khare has focused on transforming breakthrough semiconductor research into scalable manufacturing platforms. He led research alliances responsible for multiple generations of world-leading semiconductor technologies, including 7nm and 2nm node innovations and their scaling through manufacturing partners. He also championed two landmark public-private partnerships with New York State -- the 10B High NA EUV research center at Albany NanoTech in 2023.
His leadership has been recognized across the industry. Dr. Khare received the Asian American Executive of the Year award in 2021, the SEMI Sustainability Excellence Award in 2023, and IBM’s highest technical award—the IBM Corporate Award. In 2024, IIT Bombay named him a Distinguished Alumnus for his exceptional impact on the global enterprise.
Dr. Khare serves on the board of the Semiconductor Research Corporation (SRC) that oversees more than $100M in funding university research and contributes his expertise to advisory boards for MITRE and the University at Albany. He previously served as an industrial advisor to the India Semiconductor Mission and the U.S. Department of Commerce.
Dr. Khare holds a Master of Technology from IIT Bombay and a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from Yale University. He has co‑authored more than 100 research papers and holds numerous U.S. and international patents and is widely recognized as a global leader in semiconductor, AI, and quantum technology innovation.
