Bio

Basil is a Senior Research Engineer at IBM Research Europe - Zurich. His focus is on the implementation side of cryptography, quantum-safe cryptography and quantum-safe migration.

Basil is currently involved in several cryptographic initiatives. He contributes to Open Quantum Safe, a project focused on developing software for prototyping quantum-resistant cryptography. He is also the co-author of CycloneDX CBOM (Cryptography Bill of Materials), and has co-submitted two digital signature schemes - MAYO and SQIsign - to the NIST PQC Standardization for additional digital signature schemes.

Prior to joining IBM Research in 2020, Basil served as Chief Cryptographic Engineer at InfoSec Global and was a Research Associate at SAP.

Basil holds a PhD in Information Systems and a MSc in Computer Science, both from ETH Zurich.
