VEC: gateways for cross-organizational document flow

A system that lets organizations maintain privacy, flexibility, and independence when using process management systems (PMSs) to manage cross-organizational business processes is presented. Referred to as Virtual Enterprise Coordinator (VEC), the system satisfies these goals by uncoupling the PMSs of the collaborating relationships between the processes of the two entities on the basis of an agreement.
