With business survival increasingly tied to technology performance, CIOs and their IT organizations should be able to map, relate, and articulate IT spending and productivity to business revenue to support their value proposition. There is a rise in the use of project portfolio management as IT organizations shift to provide customer driven solutions. Implementing a project portfolio management process is crucial to optimizing corporate investments under shared service environment. This paper reviews actions that CIO can take to create an environment for more successful projects in the IT organizations.
