TRENDS IN TELECOMMUNICATIONS SOFTWARE.

The author examines the tremendous growth in power and capacity of today's computers, ranging from the high end down to the personal computer and the effect of technology the power and applicability of telecommunications. Given the availability of high speed and very high speed digital transmission (for both local area and wide area communications), digital switching, and emerging standards, such as ISDN, significantly new software technology and services will be available. These developing trends are discussed.
