The Future of Computing, bits, neurons, and qubits

We have been facing dramatical transformation of computing technologies, the fundamental infrastructure of the modern IT society. Over many decades, the current digital computing system has relied on the device called transistors, providing the information of “0” and “1” explicitly. To achieve high performance and low power consumption, the transistor structure has become more complicated by technology nodes, and the photolithography technology has always played a critical role to invent a new device structure. Beyond Fin-FET, several kinds of transistor structures are now being developed, and gate-all-around nano-sheet transistors were successfully developed as 2nm technology node. To reduce the power consumption at data center, two AI Hardware technologies are introduced. One is about NorthPole and the other is about Analog AI.
