The pair distribution function and equation of state of a hard-sphere fluid are calculated for several modifications of the Percus-Yevick (PY) theory by means of a perturbation calculation in which the zeroth-order term is the PY result. Even in first order, this technique provides a very simple way of examining modifications of the PY theory and yields accurate results for low and moderately dense (ρσ3 ≤ 0.8) hard-sphere fluids. © 1971.
