R-2-A Fast Digitalized Scan Laser

An operating 2X2 Nd digital scan laser containing a crossed array of LiNb03 electrooptic switches for mode selection is described. Ultimate output parameters for a complete system include a 1-watt power output to any of approximately 7 × 103 spots, with MHz switching speeds. The required mode-selection voltage is under 100 volts, permitting the use of fast transistorized driving circuitry. Copyright © 1968 by The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, Inc.
