Chemistry of Materials
It is emphasized that topologically classifiable, finite energy intrinsic defect states are known analytically for the continuum classical, isotropic, Heisenberg model in two space dimensions both from statistical mechanics and field theory literature. Evidence from Monte Carlo simulations is presented for the existence of these nonlinear, metastable states at low temperatures. © 1980.
