The motion of an antiferromagnetic large polaron under an applied electric field is treated theoretically. It is shown that the motion of the 4f{hook} spin polarization is similar to that of antiferromagnetic domain wall motion. The results are described in terms of an extra effective mass which is due primarily to the 4f{hook} spin exchange energy. For a large polaron, the effective mass is very large. © 1970.
