Measurement of transition displacement in magnetic recording

A simulation of the magnetic-recording process shows that the magnetic transition is displaced relative to the transducer gap. This displacement has been measured by a simple technique using unipolar write currents. The implications on packing density are pointed out. © 1970, The Institution of Electrical Engineers.
