Measurement of perceived flicker in VDU products

An objective method for measuring flicker in VDUs is described, which compares a normalized human sensitivity curve against a measurement of light modulation. The method and equipment are part of a research project to provide design engineers with a fast method for assessing expected flicker level of prototype displays. The equipment principles and operation are described and the flicker assessment computer program is presented, followed by a description of the measurement process and some results. © 1987.
