Major technical issues in medical informatics: COMPSAC panel

The panel session reported was held to bring the major technical problems and issues in medical informatics to the attention of computer systems and applications professionals with the intention of accelerating the progress in finding solutions to the problems. Among the issues considered were: data capture and conversion of paper record to electronic form; digital patient care record; hospital automation; information sharing; diagnosis support; medical imaging; and system integration.
