Johnson-Nyquist noise derived from quantum mechanical transmission

Expressions for the conductance of a sample with elastic scattering, in terms of the transmissive behavior of the sample, have come into widespread use. We show that thermal equilibrium noise currents, calculated within the same framework, obey the Johnson-Nyquist formula. © 1989.
