Illumination system for color filterless liquid crystal display

We have designed LED backlight system achieving a novel color LCD requiring no color filters with a three-fold improvement in backlight efficiency. We evaluated them in terms of viewing characteristics, efficiency and physical dimension. The use of discrete LED allows more efficiency as well as a better color fidelity.
