HIGH QUALITY ELECTROPHOTOGRAPHIC PRINTING USING LED ARRAY SOURCES.

This paper describes the usage of page-wide array printheads in electrophotographic printing. Some advantages which may be gained by the use of LED source arrays imaged by SELFOC lens arrays are enumerated. The intrinsic and technological limitations to the uniformity of exposure in large areas and the resolution of small features are described. Techniques for further improvement of print quality of coded and non-coded information are discussed.
