Enhanced magneto-optic properties of light rare-earth-transition metal amorphous alloys

The light rare earths Nd and Pr make a significant contribution to the magneto-optic coefficients of their amorphous alloys with Fe and Co. The enhanced magneto-optic coefficients of the light rare earth alloys are associated with the spin polarized 4f band located within about 2 eV of the Fermi energy in these alloys. © 1986.
