Comparative study of search strategies for the direct binary search image halftoning algorithm

We propose strategies for reducing the operations required by a high-quality halftoning algorithm, Direct Binary Search (DBS) and compare the errors in the resulting halftones from the proposed methods, standard DBS, dithering, and error diffusion. © 2006 Society for Imaging Science and Technology.
