The growth of CaClF+ single crystals has been investigated in connection with spectral hole burning phenomena. CaClF+ has been grown by slow cooling of a high temperature solution using CaCl2 as solvent. X-ray diffraction, optical studies and chemical etching were carried out on the single crystals obtained. The luminescence properties of CaClF+ single crystals have been recorded. © 1993 Elsevier Science Publishers B.V. All rights reserved.
