By now AI is pervasive in our professional and personal life, and will increasingly be so in the future. This brings us many advantages but also raises concerns about the social, economic, and ethical implication of the use of AI. Several initiatives, both in academia and the private sectors, aim at addressing these themes in a collaborative and constructive environment, through open letters, research programs, and multi-disciplinary discussions. This paper describes some of these initiatives.
