A Single-Chip Laser Diode Driver with Built-In Frequency-Sweep Linearization for FMCW LiDAR

Abstract

A laser diode driver with supply-intrinsic current shaping for FMCW LiDAR is presented. By combining a fast optical loop and an efficient switching loop, and with the LD fitted model realized in analog circuits, the design achieves closed-loop optical frequency linearization without MZI, external PD, or bulky equipment. Measurements in 180nm CMOS confirm effective frequency-sweep linearization and tunable modulation capability in a compact, highly integrated design for mobile FMCW LiDAR.
