A Comparison of Resource Managers for VM/XA

Many VM/XA installations need to support computing-intensive users on the same system with interactive users. This paper describes resource managers which have helped two scientific installations support their environments. It compares the implementations for the VM/XA operating system at CERN and at the IBM Thomas J. Watson Research Center. The intent is to provide the readers with examples that can help them support their own installations.
