Wallas Santos
Bio
Wallas Santos, Ph.D. is a Research Software Engineer specializing in system optimization, real-time systems, and computer graphics. He currently contributes to IBM’s watsonX platform, working on the open-source inference engine vLLM, where he develops new features, fixes bugs, and supports internal clients. His recent focus is adapting vLLM to IBM Spyre, a custom AI accelerator.
Previously, Wallas worked on the development of Hyperknowledge, an innovative knowledge representation technology. His work spanned designing a custom database, creating a query language, graph visualization, and full-stack cloud deployment, including VR-based client prototypes. He has co-authored over a dozen research papers and holds a patent.
Wallas earned his Ph.D. in Informatics from PUC-Rio, with a thesis in computer graphics.
