You can’t tell the story of computing without IBM.
From the earliest days of the mainframe, the PC, AI, and quantum computing, IBM has been at the forefront of innovation, inventing new technologies to help solve the most pressing issues of the day.
At SEMICON India this year, IBM is highlighting its latest major breakthroughs in quantum and AI hardware and applications that have the potential to revolutionize the way people live and work in India.
We’re on a path to building fault-tolerant quantum computers before the end of this decade that we believe will have profound effects on many industries, unlocking new ways to discover drugs and materials, redefining logistics and optimization in industries like finance, shipping, medicine, and more. Quantum computing will also upend the way we secure the internet. It’s why our researchers have been focused on building quantum-safe algorithms and hardware that will be resilient to future fault-tolerant quantum systems. The latest IBM Z quantum-safe card, will be on display next to the quantum computer.
These quantum leaps would not be possible without the deep expertise IBM has in classical computing design. Our newest breakthroughs, including the IBM Spyre AI accelerator that will soon be available for IBM z17, will be on display. This card is the first to bring the generative AI area to the mainframe. With Spyre, businesses can scale complex generative tasks, like customer service conversations or IT operations, without their data ever leaving the secure environment that is z17.
Perhaps most important is what these new systems can enable. In the booth, we’ll have several demonstrations of work that’s directly impacting the lives of people in India. Harnessing the abilities from IBM’s hardware and AI software teams, we’ll show the tools we’ve been building using our Prithvi geospatial model for agriculture and disaster management use cases in India. We will also have a demonstration of an Indian-language AI model running on a device using Spyre.
Our aim is to take our expertise that we have built up in every step of the computing stack and bring that ecosystem structure to India. Because you can’t solve tomorrow’s problems without being ready to build today.
