IBM Research UK Celebrates 10 Years of Scientific Excellence and National Impact

IBM Research UK proudly celebrates a decade of transformative contributions to science, technology, and academia. Since its incorporation into the global IBM Research community in 2015, the UK research team—operating from Hursley and Daresbury—has played a pivotal role in advancing the UK’s global leadership in quantum computing, artificial intelligence, climate science, and healthcare innovation.

A Decade of Impactful Innovation

Over the past ten years, IBM Research UK has made key contributions in a number of areas. Delivered breakthroughs in quantum computing, AI, climate science, and healthcare, directly supporting UK national strategies.

Partnering for National and International Progress

Over the past 10 years IBM Research UK has worked closely with the UK Government, US Government, and leading universities to successfully deliver a series of landmark programmes:

• The International Technology Alliance (ITA) and Distributed Analytics and Information Sciences (DAIS), led by IBM in partnership with the UK Ministry of Defence and the US Army Research Laboratory.
• The Hartree National Centre for Digital Innovation (HNCDI), a £210 million partnership between IBM and the Science and Technology Facilities Council (STFC) with the goal of accelerating the UK’s digital transformation.
